March 26, 2007. Press Pass, Inc. (formerly known as JoyRide Entertainment/RC2) is looking for individuals and groups who would be interested in joining the ranks of our playtesters for our upcoming trading-card game. An announcement regarding this game will be made around the time of GAMA Trade Show in late April. As a result, we can’t go into details yet about the property the game is based on; suffice to say that it is a popular franchise in current production, as opposed to a property that has not yet been viewed by the general public.

Interested parties should send an e-mail to jlwinter@presspassinc.com with their name, mailing address, date of birth, and a brief description of why you want to playtest. Keep the following things in mind:

First, you need multiple people to playtest. If you and a group of friends want to playtest, only one of you should apply. Give a brief description of who your playtest group (preferably 4+ people) would consist of. And be certain everyone else in your group understands the rules listed here.

Second, playtesting is a lot of work, few rewards, and very little glory. Groups are expected to meet for a few hours each week (with exceptions in case of emergencies or other obligations, of course) and submit regular reports. Please don’t apply if you just want to see cool cards or offer critiques through e-mail. Playtesters playtest.

Third, while we value everyone’s opinions, you’ll need to keep it civil. Critiquing cards is fine; acting insulting is not. Likewise, if you’re easily offended at someone criticizing your ideas, this might not be for you.

There is no obligation. If you are approved, we will send you an e-mail asking if you still want to playtest after the game is announced. If you don’t wish to participate at that time, you can simply say so.

These sets are the first seven of 16 new ACW sets which were premiered in prototype form at OTSN and created a general frenzy due to the incredible sculpting, enhanced painting and larger figure stands/bases.

These sets are ALL 'fine pewter' (not less expensive white metal alloys used by many in the toy soldier world). Additional 'waves' of this series will have hand to handsets and plenty of Yankee opponents.

The prices for these sets are slightly higher than what we've charged for past ACW offerings due to the additional pewter used, a more intricate level of painting & the amazing sculpting .... resulting in heretofore unseen animation and action.

All seven sets portray tanned, weathered (sometimes grizzled & dirty), and weary Confederate veterans in action...in the midst of any number of historic charges. Most collectors who see these immediately conjure up images of the final moments of Pickett's Charge.

Blue Guidon Games has released The SS Abyss covering the German offensives in Hungary during 1945. This DTPro release is shipped in a box with die-cut counters and is currently in stock as of this writing. The Blue Guidon web site describes the game this way:

The SS Abyss is an operational simulation of two of the last major German offensives of World War II conducted in Hungary, 1945. The first, Konrad 3, occurred from January 18-26. It was the final attempt to relieve the encircled SS units at Budapest. The second, Spring Awakening, occurred in the exact same area from March 6-18. This last major offensive consumed the remains of the SS striking power of the 6th SS Panzer Army, rebuilt from the ruins of the Ardennes offensive. Ironically, Konrad 3 had gained more using weaker forces, primarily due to the defenses the Russians had created for Spring Awakening. While Konrad 3 had a real purpose, Spring Awakening was called a waste by the commander of the 6th SS Panzer Army. It was the “Hungarian Kursk.” Designed by Perry Moore.
