Dark Age Games has posted a lengthy news item as of Tuesday, which includes the following tidbits of information:

• February releases are almost ready to ship. The official release date is Monday February 25.
• They will be releasing their new Groundwerks Base insert line. Each set will have a common theme and will be available in packages of 50mm (1), 40mm (2), and 30mm (3).
• They will be releasing two Forsaken releases in the Saint John faction.
• The Faithful unit box set will provide Forsaken Saint John players with a hard hitting, dual wielding, bone cracking unit that will surpass most other Forsakens.

• The Recce section is packed as usual, with some excellent rules reviews in particular, including the new Field of Glory ancients rules, There Are Your Guns GdeB variant for the mid 19th century, and em4's Ludus Gladiatorus 2 fun gladiator game in a box.
• We have a new regular short column, War and Preece, from veteran British gamer and witty grumpy old man John Preece, whose skilful prose is directed at reminding us that not all new ideas are really new, nor old ideas really old. In his opening issue, he gives a deft sketch of Neil Cogswell.
• Finally, I regret that as of issue 12, I am having to raise the cover price of the magazine to £3.95, and the cost of an annual subscription £23.70 POST FREE for the UK, £27.50 incl. p&p. to other EU countries and £36.00 for the Rest of the World. EU and Rest of the World postage is still heavily subsidised. You can beat the price rise by re-subscribing before the price rise takes effect, and page 42 of this issue also contains details of a special 12-issue subscription deal with a fabulous bonus into the bargain. After a very successful number of years producing miniatures for our Origins award-winning game Babylon 5: A Call to Arms, Mongoose Publishing is announcing today that we will cease production of this range of models with effect from March 31st 2008.

The increasing costs associated with this range combined with its sheer breadth means that production of miniatures is no longer commercially viable at this time. As a result we have reduced our prices on the miniatures by 20%, which will continue until March 31st 2008, when they will be removed from our catalogue. So, if you have been thinking about that new Shadow fleet or want to bolster the defences of the ISA, now is the time!

The Monte Cook web site has announced the release of The Book of Experimental Might, an 83-page sourcebook for all levels, by Monte Cook with a cover illustration by Kieran Yanner.  The electronic edition is planned for a February 21, 2008, release.

This book contains a collection of house rules Monte uses in his own games, including a spell progression system, new rules for healing and curative magic, magical disciplines for spellcasters, and more.  It includes an entirely new base class, the runeblade, for players wanting a character which combines magic and martial art skill without the use of spells.
